The raw ingredients in our shampoo cost seven times as much as our department store and salon brand competitors, but they charge you more for their inferior products because they spend so much on packaging and marketing. With shampoo, just like fine wine, true quality depends on what’s actually in the bottle, not on how fancy the label is. The imported ultra-refined cleanser we use is extra gentle; even our expensive competitors use cut-rate industrial soaps that strip your hair. Ours is safe for colored hair and has a UV filter and instead of cheap, irritating artificial fragrance, we use natural essential plant oils from French lavender, Washington peppermint and Tunisian rosemary. We selected every single ingredient, regardless of cost, to promote healthy hair that’s shiny, full of body and strong, without split-ends or fly-aways. (Click below to find out why the “different products for dry hair/oily hair” thing is often just more marketing BS.) It’s also ultra-concentrated, so the ten-ounce bottle lasts two to three times as long as other brands. Signature scent.

It’s hard to find a top-notch conditioner that fully hydrates each hair shaft without weighing it down with oily residue. When we noted this gap in the market, that’s where we concentrated our efforts. Again, the solution wasn’t rocket science; rather, it was simple willingness to spend the resources on the best (and in this case rarest) available ingredients. The key to delivering intensive hydration without excess oiliness lies in the nut of the exotic shea tree and even more importantly, in the specific extraction process we use. Traditional, time-intensive cold pressing yields minimal free fatty acids but high concentrations of unsaponifiables. They provide superior moisturizing while creating a smooth, emollient barrier between the hair shaft and harmful external elements like dirt and pollution. Astringent extracts of green tea and sage, rather than harsh chemicals, are added for pH balance. Natural rapeseed oil provides excellent detangling and shine properties so hair looks and feels silky, shiny and full of body. [Light] signature scent.

If you use styling gel and it stays on all day long, shouldn’t it condition your hair rather than dry it out? That’s what we wanted in a gel but we couldn’t find any products that hold in the natural way we like and condition too. In fact most gels parch the hair rather than nourish it, which is doubly bad because gel rests on the hair shaft and scalp all day long. Ours is different. We included Panthenol. Gram for gram, it’s more valuable than precious metal, which is why it’s rarely included in gel. A kind of miracle cure for the hair shaft (it’s also in our conditioner and shampoo), Panthenol conditions, thickens and repairs. This gel doesn’t flake, and it’s got a smooth, natural finish. Medium hold. [Light] signature scent.

This is the most interesting hair styling product on the market. It’s all because of the lanolin, the primary ingredient, which as you know comes from sheep’s hair. Lanolin has a significant chromatic effect, in that it deepens and heightens the color of your hair, while also making it look exceptionally sleek and sexy. This product is also readily absorbed into the hair shaft, so it conditions dry and damaged hair. I also made sure it adds texture and volume to thinning hair because, um, I have a “friend” who has this problem. And if your hair frizzes when it’s humid, this is the cure. It’s miraculous. Light hold—more of a molding product than a holding product. [Light] signature scent.

My great-grandfather had his first barbershop in North Beach, the Italian part of San Francisco, during the 1920’s. (He gave me my first haircut, with a bowl, eek). Back in the day, he used brilliantine to impart intensely light-reflecting (but non-greasy) shine to the hair, which is exactly what this unscented product does. De-frizzes hair that goes nutty in humidity too, which should earn us a Nobel Prize. Softens wiry, curly or wavy hair. Light hold—more of a molder than a holder.

You know how there have been times (for some, it’s more than they care to remember) when you wake up at, um, a stranger’s house with whom you appear to have spent the better part of the night and you really want to freshen up but that person seems to subscribe to the “less is more” approach to hygiene? This adorable little bag was made for those times. Includes travel-size shampoo, conditioner, styling gel and invigorating body bar.

When people traveled by stagecoach, their hair got covered with dust and they should have shampooed but probably didn't because there weren't travel-sized shampoos back then. See how lucky you are?
