When we were just starting out, so was the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy TV show. It was really hot, we were new and very much wanted our stuff to be on it. When I finally got through to the producer, we were rather surprised to find that it was a “pay-for-play” deal—the manufacturer of each product had to pay a fee of $25,000 for it to be featured on the show. Well, we didn’t have the money and also have a no-advertising policy (plus the whole thing seemed smarmy). But we believed so strongly in our shave cream that we sent 50 jars to the production company with instructions to give them to the crew, plus we sent huge gift baskets to each of the Queer Eye guys. We didn’t hear anything for months and pretty much forgot about it…until one morning when our phone started ringing off the hook and the emails (and orders) started flooding in. The night before, our shave cream had been featured on the show. To this day we don’t know how or why, but we suspect they couldn’t ignore how great this product is, especially since the Marine they used it on still orders it from us! It recently got a rave review on www.shaveblog.com, a shaving enthusiast (!?) website that gets 25,000 hits per day. We’ve never seen such an immediate impact on our business. Now we’ve just got to find the person who writes the salt scrub blog and we’ll be set for life.

People who like it say 1) it gives them the closest, most comfortable shave they’ve ever had 2) they don’t get cuts, nicks or razor bumps anymore 3) like how their skin feels soft and moisturized after they shave 4) love the natural, “not-too-strong” scent

People who didn’t like it 1) prefer a gel or a foam

Ingredients: Purified water, potassium myristate (from natural vegetable oils), sodium stearate (from natural vegetable oils), glycerin, cocos nucifera oil (from coconuts), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, avocado oil, pistacia vera seed oil, fragrance (includes lavender, peppermint and rosemary essential oils), allantoin (from comfrey plant), bitter orange flower extract, cucumber extract, propylene glycol, tocopheryl acetate (Vitamin E), methyl gluceth-20 (from corn), polyquaternium-7, methylparaben (anti-microbial), hydroxyethylcellulose (natural stabilizer), propylparaben (anti-microbial).
