First, for all of you devotees, yes, we changed the formulation. But please don’t fret, you won’t notice anything different except the results. The cream still has that wonderful rich, smooth quality, goes on in the same non-greasy way, the skin still drinks it in. But we had to update it because skin science has made so many advances over the six years (and 250,000 jars sold) since it was introduced. We’re most excited about the marine extracts, (what Estee Lauder touts as coming from “the remote islands of Okinawa"). They really come from the Hawaiian chain, also called the Okinawan chain, and are a form of red algae (Ahnfeltia concinna) that live along the intertidal basalt shores. This natural substance improve the skin's ability to absorb moisture, enhances skin smoothness and the reduction of fine surface lines, increases cell turnover, and provides superior skin smoothing properties. It also improves skin firmess & elasticity: in human test subjects, a 20% increase in skin firmness was shown after 4 weeks. Enhanced firming is obviously key to any anti-aging product, because our skin loses elasticity as we age and tends to sag. This effect is especially pronounced under the eyes, and this product is a fantastic under-eye booster.

Two other related key actives are Palmitoyl Oligopeptide (and) Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, naturally derived plant based ingredients. These actives are sort of the “it-girls” of current wrinkle-reduction science, because they deliver such powerful results. While the previous formulation provided up to a 33% decrease in wrinkle density and length, this formulation provides a whopping 45% decrease, due mostly to the effect on collagen and skin thickness. Look up these ingredients online if you’re skeptical. Like any anti-aging treatment short of plastic surgery, this one works over time: to get the full results, you have to use it daily. The noticeable difference you'll see after 28 days will remain with regular use.

Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate is a stable, oil soluble form of Vitamin C, excellent for anti-aging products because it reduces melanin (dark spots) synthesis, increases collagen synthesis and provides collagen protection. It also helps protect deep down in the cells against DNA damage caused by UV exposure.

Sodium Hyaluronate (or Hyaluronic acid) is a natural ingredient in the skin and body but decreases with age. This material helps in tissue hydration & cellular function, increases skin smoothness, decreases wrinkles, and calms the skin. Overall, if you can find a better anti-wrinkle/anti-aging product (or just a better deep moisturizer, because that’s how I use it) on the market at any price, buy it.

Oh, we also changed the jar: it used to be glass and is now plastic, and used to hold 1.75 ounces and now holds 2.0 ounces. That means you’re getting 15% more product at the same price we've charged for six years, which we're able to deliver by changing to less expensive packaging. If you're bummed out about this change, however, the glass jar is available for only $405 extra if you purchase the Estee Lauder brand with the same active ingredients as ours, Re-Nutriv Re-Creation Night Cream. If you do, you'll be as disappointed as we were to find (we bought a jar for test purposes) that it's plain old jam jar glass. Considering they charge over $400 for it, we were expecting Lalique.
