These salts fly off our shelves, even in the summertime, which isn’t that surprising given what ghastly summer weather we have here in San Francisco. People who love a bath, me included, find it settles jangled nerves, shuts out an all-too-freaky world and gives one time to reflect on what to make for dessert. I always choose salts when my skin feels dim or ooky or when I’ve just worked out or if I’m feeling achy. While the salts work their physical magic, I let the aromatherapeutic properties of the natural essential oils hit my limbic system (the totally archaic part of the brain we share with all mammals), softening the rough jangly edges into soft smooth circles. If we all took baths, the warmongers would have a way harder time rousing us to fight.

SIGNATURE is our most popular scent. French lavender makes it calming and restorative, but the Washington peppermint and Tunisian rosemary give it clean, fresh, bracing notes to which both men and women are drawn. This is a great after-sport or just-before-bed bath.

CITRUS is our rarest scent, composed of California pink grapefruit, and lemon and bergamot from Italy. Most citrus scents are too bright and sweet; by adding bergamot, the scarce citrus fruit that flavors Earl Grey tea, we’ve achieved a fragrant, harmonious balance that citrus aficionados adore. This is a great bath for anytime you're feeling blue. Citrus is a natural mood lifter and brings to mind hot summer mornings in ageless Tuscan lemon groves.

SWEETGRASS is our most complex scent, in which we balance the springlike freshness of Italian lemon and Indian lemongrass with the woodsiness of Moroccan cedar and finish with a light note of rose geranium from China. It’s an aromatic scent that recalls a perfect summer evening—lush, romantic, enveloping. This is wonderful as a before-getting-dressed-to-go-out bath when you want to feel extra-pretty. And who doesn't?
