This formulation is a big departure from what’s available in the supermarket. The cheap industrial grade soaps in every supermarket brand of laundry detergent (both powders and liquids) are so crude and strong they can never be fully rinsed out in the wash. In the dryer these soap residues form an invisible crust on every piece of fabric. The result? First, everything feels rough and uncomfortable. Second, the dried soap crystals rub together and cut the fabric (proof? lint in the lint trap). Third, this rubbing creates static cling.
So when we developed our laundry soap, we formulated it with concentrated high-quality soap that powers out tough stains but also rinses out to almost imperceptible levels, making it unnecessary to use a fabric softener or dryer sheet. This approach results in naturally soft, cuddly laundry, a dramatic reduction in static cling and a decrease in lint of at least 30% (check your lint trap!) thereby lengthening fabric life. Our soap is also highly eco-friendly: dye free, phosphate free, biodegradable, no animal byproducts or testing, gentle, low-sudsing and color safe. Formulated for use in both traditional top and newer front-loading (High Efficiency) washers.

I got to be such a Laundry Queen myself by working on Clorox brands for eight years. While there, I learned about “The 80/20 Rule” which applies to basically anything we buy at a supermarket or drug store. 80% of a brand’s volume and profit comes from only 20% of its customers—its “heavy users”—and in the case of laundry soap, heavy users’ stuff is so caked with oil, mud and grime that it takes industrial-grade surfactant (soap) to get it looking reasonably presentable.
While that’s not surprising, it is a bit troubling because 80% of us are using the same brands that were developed specifically for the “heavy user” even though we have very different needs. This “use a cannon on everything” approach leaves gunky soap residues on every piece of laundry we wash. In the best tradition of American marketing, manufacturers turned the problem into a revenue opportunity and created fabric softeners and dryer sheets! These products work by coating the crusty soap residues with an oily slickness that provides a false sensation of softness and deposits yet another layer of gunk on our laundry. Clothes are less breathable and you really notice it on towels—water beads up on the oily surface so they’re much less absorbent.
That’s why our formulation is such a breakthrough. If you eliminate the crusty residues in the first place, you eliminate any need for these further residue-depositing softeners and dryer sheets, leaving your laundry softer than you ever imagined it could be. Our traditional laundry scents—lavender, lavender-geranium and lemon verbena—create a lovely, spa-oriented aromatherapy experience while you’re doing the wash, but don’t leave much of a lasting fragrance on your laundry because they’re derived from natural botanicals. If you do prefer more strongly-scented laundry, we suggest trying one of our scented linen waters that can be used for ironing or sprayed on clothes, sheets, & towels anytime after taking them out of the dryer—the scent is much stronger.

Lavender-Geranium is a blend of French lavender and lushly floral Rose-Geranium flower essence. Lemon Verbena is a fragrant herb native to South America but prized for centuries by French perfumers for its heady, lemony scent.
