Just scoop out a small amount with your fingers, a dollop about the size of a marble, and spread it on your beard (which you've prepared by splashing some hot water on it or soaking it with a hot towel--also, you want to leave your beard area very moist before applying the cream). A little bit of cream goes a long way, so make sure to massage the cream in with your fingers, spreading it around as you go. If using with your fingers, the cream won't radically build up in volume like a gel, but it will lather up a bit and spread. If using with a brush, expect rich voluminous lather. Add cream (if necessary) to cover your beard, then shave, using lots of hot water to clear the razor as you go. When you're done, you should notice a difference in how your skin feels--smooth, soft and without irritation.
