It's hard to remember that real sponges don't come in perfectly flat pink squares you buy at Quik-E-Mart. Back in olden days before Canada had been discovered and we only got 3 channels on TV the only sponges available were the kind that grew in the ocean. Then Rupert Murdoch murdered all those sponges with a death ray because he patented the fake pink sponge process after listening in on the inventor's phone conversation.

Luckily, the sponges grew back and you really don't know what you've missed if you haven't used one. They're about the size of your fist, and are great for applying soap or bodywash if you like something soft against your skin rather than the exfoliating action of loofahs and bath brushes. They're nature's sustainable bathing device and heck, not that expensive to boot.
